What began as an attempt to capture the fading light of a pastel sunset took on a life of its own ~ a reminder that clay has its own way of telling the story. Layers of porcelain, colored with mason stains, were carved to reveal soft marbling in shades of purple, blush, white, and yellow slip.
The two round vessels invite light to pass through their carved surfaces, creating a quiet glow when placed near a window or candle. Each form carries the fingerprints of its making, celebrating the unexpected beauty that emerges when you let go of control and follow the clay’s lead.
Perfect as a standalone art object, or to be used as a cup or vase, each piece is one-of-a-kind ~ just like the sunsets that inspired them.
