Grey sky

I am the grey sky
and “you are the light”, mom told me
The sun is there even when I can’t see
“and I can see the light
on your grey sky”

Inspired by the sky on a grey day, these two were made from white porcelain, colored porcelain and clay.  Made with the intention for you to feel the textures of clay - the Earth, the exterior was left unglazed so you can feel the textures of the Earth. There are some small cracks inside but they are not through. The cracks were mended with kintsugi method using real silver powder. 

*kintsugi means golden joinery/golden healing/golden repair. It is the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with urushi and powered gold or silver. This embraces the wabi-sabi philosophy where we accept the imperfection, impermanent and incomplete of ourselves, of others and of life itself. Like all of us, the piece becomes unique and more beautiful when we embrace the history and all the changes that we've been through to make us who we are today.
